Hospice is a specialized program of care and support for individuals who are terminally ill and have received a prognosis of six months or less to live. Who Can Receive Hospice Care?
A common misconception is that hospice care is only for elderly patients or those with cancer. Who is eligible for hospice care?
Any person of any age who has been diagnosed with a terminal illness and given a prognosis of six months or less may be eligible for hospice care. Hospice is not limited to the elderly or to cancer patients; heart disease, COPD, dementia, neurological disorders, and many other life-limiting illnesses qualify. Does a patient need to be hospitalized to receive hospice?
No. Hospice care at home is brought directly to patients wherever they call home — in private residences, nursing facilities, assisted living communities, and other settings throughout Detroit, Warren, Dearborn, Sterling Heights, Bloomfield Highlands, Shenandoah, Maple Hill, and all surrounding Metro Detroit communities.
What types of hospice care does Choice Hospice offer?
Choice Hospice provides four levels of care: Routine Home Hospice Care, Respite Care, Continuous 24-Hour Home Care, and Short-Term Inpatient Care. Our team works with each family to determine the right level of care at every stage of the journey.
